K200 Road Wheel Riveting System
Bringing wheel handling, positioning and riveting into one maintenance setup
Project Overview
GAON TECH manufactured a dedicated K200 road wheel maintenance system combining the riveting machine, tooling, hydraulic power unit, control cabinet and pneumatic handling equipment. Built to reflect the user’s requirements precisely, the system is now performing the required maintenance functions reliably on site.
The project addressed wheel transfer and loading, working-position adjustment, compatibility with existing tooling and ease of operation alongside rivet removal and fastening. Mechanical, hydraulic and control equipment were arranged around the maintenance sequence, with installation, commissioning, operator training and technical documentation included in the delivery scope.

Project Background & Requirements
K200 road wheel protective-plate maintenance involves repeated clamping, rivet positioning and changeovers between removal and fastening. GAON TECH reviewed this workflow and the installation space to address both working performance and practical operation.
- Protective-plate removal and fastening, with compatibility for existing tooling
- Wheel mounting, secure clamping and positioning for repeated operations
- Pneumatic assistance for road wheel handling
- Control software for status monitoring, manual operation and inspection
Dedicated Tooling & Servo Positioning
Interchangeable removal and riveting tools accommodate flat- and round-head forming while maintaining compatibility with existing tooling. The mounting chuck and sensors support secure clamping and confirmation of the riveting position.
The INDEX TABLE incorporates 20° indexing and servo positioning. Tilt settings of 0°, 25° and 35°, together with fore–aft adjustment, establish the working position. The table and tooling remain secured during punching and removal.

Hydraulic Power for Riveting Operations
The hydraulic working unit is designed for at least 20 t of punching capacity with adjustable speed and stroke. A power unit comprising the pump, reservoir, valves, instruments and temperature-control equipment supplies the required hydraulic power.
Upper and lower travel sensing, emergency-stop switches on the machine and control cabinet, and a warning light support operating-status awareness and intervention.

Assisted Wheel Transfer & Loading
A pneumatic balance arm and clamp-type attachment support gripping and transferring the road wheel to the working position. Tilt adjustment assists alignment as the wheel is loaded onto the INDEX TABLE.
The handling equipment and riveting machine are arranged around one maintenance sequence, connecting wheel transfer, loading and clamping with rivet removal and fastening.

HMI-Based Operation & Status Monitoring
The control software brings operating-status monitoring, individual device controls, servo settings and inspection functions together. Operators can use the machine control panel alongside the wired remote during the maintenance process.
Operating-status monitoring
View the punching unit, clamp, tilt and stopper positions together with the hydraulic pump’s operating status.
Individual manual controls
Operate rotation, tilt, clamping, the stopper, punching unit and hydraulic pump individually while automatic operation is stopped.
Rotary and tilt servo settings
Check position and axis status, and set target positions, travel speeds, acceleration, deceleration, software limits and JOG operation.
PLC input and output monitoring
Check input and output signals from controls, sensors and actuators to review device operation and position detection.
Timing and pump idle settings
Set completion delays for individual units and the idle period before the hydraulic pump switches off when no hydraulic function is operating.
Alarm history and diagnostics
Review alarm occurrence and recovery times, descriptions, event counts, and servo error and warning codes to support inspection and recovery.
Site Integration & Operating Support
Delivery support covered site installation, commissioning, operator training and technical documentation. Guidance on tool changes, machine operation and routine inspection supports practical day-to-day use.
By coordinating the mechanical structure, hydraulic equipment and control functions around the user’s requirements, this project demonstrates GAON TECH’s capabilities in designing and manufacturing defence maintenance equipment.
Conclusion
GAON TECH built the K200 road wheel riveting system to reflect the user’s requirements precisely, and it is now performing the required maintenance functions reliably on site. The project combines wheel handling, positioning, rivet removal and fastening with the support needed for practical operation.
