Patriot Radar PAO Coolant Purification Unit GA-PAO-FU25
Introduction
GAON TECH CO., LTD. carried out the engineering and manufacturing project for the GA-PAO-FU25, a mobile PAO coolant purification and replenishment unit designed for the transmitter subsystem of the Patriot radar system.
The GA-PAO-FU25 is designed to circulate PAO (Polyalphaolefin) coolant while removing moisture, entrained gas, and solid contaminants, helping maintain fluid cleanliness and supporting the reliable maintenance and long-term operation of radar and associated electronic equipment.
The system was engineered with particular consideration for field mobility, purification performance, operator monitoring, accessibility, maintainability, and reliable operation in defense maintenance environments.

Project Background & Requirements
Maintaining the condition and cleanliness of PAO coolant is an important part of supporting the reliable operation of the Patriot radar transmitter subsystem.
The GA-PAO-FU25 project was therefore developed around several key operational requirements: stable circulation and replenishment of PAO coolant, removal of moisture, gas and solid contamination, vacuum-assisted purification, field mobility, clear monitoring of operating conditions, convenient access to filters and major components, and a robust structure suitable for repeated defense maintenance operations.
The resulting system integrates the fluid circulation circuit, vacuum processing section, filtration system and operator control system into a single mobile platform. The fundamental purification concept is consistent with the existing GA-PAO-FU25 product information.
PAO Circulation & Vacuum Purification System
The GA-PAO-FU25 circulates coolant from the radar maintenance system through the purification unit and returns the conditioned fluid after processing.
A vacuum chamber and multi-stage filtration arrangement are used to support the removal of moisture, gas and solid contaminants from the PAO coolant.
The system provides a nominal flow rate of 3 GPM, operates with a vacuum chamber condition of approximately 24 inHg, and is designed for MIL-PRF-87252 PAO coolant.
This configuration enables the equipment to perform both coolant purification and replenishment while supporting preventive maintenance of radar cooling-fluid systems.
HMI-Based Operation & Monitoring
A touchscreen HMI is incorporated to provide operators with centralized monitoring of the main operating parameters.
The actual GA-PAO-FU25 HMI displays discharge flow rate, relative oil humidity, vacuum pressure, and discharge pressure. Major pumps and valves can be monitored and controlled through the interface, together with automatic operating functions and alarm/status screens.
This integrated control arrangement improves operator visibility and simplifies equipment operation during maintenance activities.
